A Coincidence I Think About

This is a TikTok trend but it got me thinking.

In 2012 at the end of the year of completing 101 things and entering the second year of doing 101 things again (yeah I know, I’m nuts) I was still really floundering to find peace and joy. My friend Mandy asked if I would like to attend a workshop on manifesting “the life I wanted.” Um, yeah I do.

Tina Hnatiuk lead the workshop. The space was dim and cozy. At every seat, there was a pen and journal. At one point we were guided in a meditation to see what our lives would look like in five years—2017. I didn’t have a very organized visualization but I did see some things very clearly. I saw that I was on a white boat, at a lake up north, with a dog. It was sunny and gorgeous out. Trees on the shore. There was a man and he brought me a coffee. I was opening a package that held my second published book.

I didn’t have a boyfriend. I didn’t own a boat. I didn’t have a dog. I wasn’t even writing. But whatever! My imagination…my rules! Tina guided us out of that meditation and asked us to write down everything we saw. I wrote the date at the top and under it, I wrote the date but changed the year to 2017. Then, like a good student who wasn’t ready to grow, I took that journal and stuffed it on the bookshelf in my tiny attic apartment. There it stayed…until…

Five years later…

I was going on my annual trip to Greece to visit family and get some needed solar power. I needed a journal. A section of my bookshelf was notebooks. I grabbed one and thumbed through it. It was 90% empty. Great. I threw it in my book bag. I said goodbye to my beloved and left for my trip. On the plane, out of curiosity, I took the notebook out to see exactly what was written. There on the page, I read “Hey you, it’s five years from now. You’re loving life. You’re on a boat with this great guy and his dog. He brought you a coffee—because coffee:) and you’re tearing open the package to your second book. The sun is shining and the trees are so green on the shore of this lake and the water is clear. Life’s great.”

Here’s the thing

A week before my trip to Greece my beloved and I went to a pretty Saskatchewan lake. We took his boat and his dog and we spent the weekend just floating and Counios and Gane had just published Shepherd’s Watch, our second book in the Shepherd and Wolfe mystery series. I was shocked and amazed at what I was reading. I had completely forgotten what I had visualized. And there it was. I couldn’t wait to get back and tell my significant other about this.

Amazing. I guess it’s true what they say Dream. Believe. Achieve.

The feature image is not of the boat I was on but it’s a boat on a lake I frequent. The photo above is a yacht and definitely not our boat–but, Dream. Believe. Achieve. Who knows. In five more years I could be writing to you from this yacht.

As always thank you for reading lovelies.
