Love It. Keep It. Hate It. Leave It.

Thanks to social media conversations and hilariously reflective radio DJs I have been left considering things I love when I was much younger. Man, sometimes I make myself sound so old! I’m not. I’m just experienced (wink).

Things I love now that I hated when I was younger

  1. Salads. Fresh. Crispy. Delicious. A whole meal on its own. Not a side dish anymore or a thing used for old school diets.
  2. Quiet nights at home.
  3. Schedules and routines. The magic pill for stress reduction.
  4. Cleaning my house.
  5. Working out.
  6. Bird watching. Look up. It’s amazing.
  7. Waking up early (see Mornings, I Love You—Now.)
  8. Walking until I feel like my legs will fall off.
  9. Saying no. Seriously one of the most powerful words.
  10. Order/lists. Another system to reduce stress.
  11. Gardening.

Loved but no longer love

  1. Fast food.
  2. Sugar. Tasty but a bad idea.
  3. Staying up with little sleep.
  4. Pleasing everyone.
  5. Saying yes.
  6. The approval of others.
  7. Sleeping in.
  8. Being overly helpful (to my detriment).
  9. Standing in line to get into noisy places.
  10. Getting paid and spending my cash on useless stuff.
  11. Television.

Having fun with lists

This was a fun exercise—reflecting on who I was and who I am now. At my core, I’m the same person but the basic way I meander through life has changed. I feel like it’s a positive evolution. I hope. I’ve made a gazillion mistakes and learned from them—had super cringy moments that I cannot undo but I can keep on learning.

Keeping things light

This morning making breakfast I thought about how much I love breakfast now and the effort I put into it almost every morning. Today I had overnight pumpkin chia seed oats with sauteed bananas and walnuts. Yum. Dark roast coffee on the side. Another yum for my mouth. I considered what I used to love that I don’t anymore— ex-husbands. An out-loud laugh left my lips while I stirred my coffee. You know…evolution.

As always, thank you for reading lovelies.
