Creative Sask celebrated 10 years in our province supporting and advocating for the arts. The multi-arts event was wonderful. Music, literature, visual arts, film, interactive arts, and theatre were represented. The location was so beautifully decorated. The food was delicious. And the vibe reminded me of the parties that were thrown by the theatre students when I was in art school (they always threw the best parties) but with way more money tossed at it!
David and I were asked to attend the Creative Sask 10th anniversary as guest readers. We read an excerpt from our book Shepherd’s Call (the fourth in the award-winning Shepherd and Wolfe series). David and I took the presentation seriously and practiced regularly until we felt prepared. We were introduced. We did our thing The audience was attentive and receptive. I felt good about the entire experience. In addition, there was a musician and DJ. Lastly, there was a film screening of trailers for films made in our province.
People mingled, laughed, listened, ate and drank.
Going in, I wasn’t sure what to expect but by the end, I wish I could have done the evening twice. It was that much fun! What a way to highlight the diverse and talented people in our province. My ultimate takeaway is that the arts should be celebrated, that it takes a huge team to keep creative souls in positions where they can practice their craft and it is the province’s responsibility to aid in these creative platforms, endeavors, and culture.
As always, thank you for reading Lovelies.
