The Whistler Independent Book Awards

I didn’t even know the Whistler Independent Book Awards existed until I began writing. If you’re curious check out their page here. I am now very familiar with this book award because I am a writer and I have gone the path of partnership publishing. My trusty publisher Heather Nickel of YNWP sent My List, My Rules: The Year a Checklist Changed My Life off to the competition.

To my surprise, this humorous telling of the year I did 101 things and the hilarious, nutty, and challenging lessons I learned from this endeavor was picked as worthy enough to be shortlisted for the non-fiction category! Amazing! My book got a sweet accessory of a beautiful bronze sticker letting the world know of the acknowledgment at the WIBA.

So frickin’ cool.

Not too long after that, I received word that My List, My Rules had made it to the finalist category. Wow! Just wow! Now my book has a new shinier sticker acknowledging that in this national award among the independently published books mine was given further praise. Whoop! Whoop!

Bless the judges.

I have always been elated when friends and family loved the stories I’ve written–I mean it’s their job to be as supportive as possible. But when I’ve put out a book in the world and the publishing industry says you are notable it hits differently, like in the best way possible.

The outcome

I’m not sure where My List, My Rules will go from here. Winners will be announced later this month. In any case, I am truly grateful that the judges have acknowledged this story and recognized it (and me) thus far.

I hope you have the chance to read this book and I hope it makes a lasting and positive impression on you. Currently, I’m working on turning it into an ebook for those who prefer a lighter version for their words.

I’m lucky. I am grateful. I am still writing. And of course, I am still learning.

As always, thank you for reading, Lovelies.
