I just came in from a walk where I was dressed way too warm. This is a mistake I make in the transitional time. For those of you who don’t know, that’s the time when winter leaves and spring arrives—and then leaves. Annnnd comes back again. Around here it can be one of those difficult relationships that are on again off again. Honestly, I don’t trust the weather as she’s done me dirty a few times over the past few weeks. Spring is officially here on the calendar and outside—but that wasn’t the case two days ago. Two. Days. Ago. Ug. She (the weather) is really hard to communicate with.
Two days ago there was no springtime apparel, no puddle jumping, no green growth poking up. And I was impatient—like really impatient. But today on my walk I saw a blue jay, tons of geese, woodpeckers, mallards, two cats, people walking and smiling—some even wearing shorts. The snow is almost completely melted on the walking paths and there are puddles everywhere.
It’s here! Spring has arrived.
I shouldn’t be impatient. We had a milder-than-normal prairie winter, with far less snowfall than usual, but by March, regardless of the winter, I’m ready for the next step.
I feel the same way about Counios and Gane’s writing. I shouldn’t be impatient. We’ve worked consistently throughout the winter—not hibernating at all—and just finished the first story draft of Wolfe’s Blood! Yay us! However, sometimes I’m just antsy for the next step. It’s normal, I guess.
I’ll be happy to be done but sad to say goodbye to our series. I’m also curious to see what our fans think of our next creative adventure—and I’m hopeful we’ll find a whole new schwak of readers along the way.
So, in the meantime, I have to be patient. I need to keep working and have faith. Like the springtime, it’ll arrive eventually. I haven’t been let down yet.
As always, thank you for reading lovelies.
